1620. The British occupied Demerary, Essequebo and Berbice from 1781-82,
1797 - 1802 and 1803-14. Berbice and Demerary- Essequebo was established on 13.8.1814 as the Colony of British Guiana. It achieved its independence as the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on 17 March 1970. |
